Sue Burkett, strategic marketing leader and senior color expert at Owens Corning, was honored in the Content Marketer category of PR Daily’s 2023 Top Women in Marketing Awards during the 2023 Top Women in Marketing awards luncheon held in New York City earlier this fall.

In a Dec. 5 announcement from OC, the company noted the value of “…understanding the power of color to boost a home’s exterior curb appeal and make a personal style statement, Burkett imagined and led the development of Owens Corning’s annual Shingle Color of the Year (SCOTY) initiative.” 

Since the inaugural SCOTY was introduced in 2017, OC said Burkett has led the launch of seven SCOTY shingle colors and a portfolio of style resources to help inspire homeowners’ exterior design decisions.  

Owens Corning has been awarded the prestigious Women’s Choice Award for six consecutive years, recognizing OC as “America’s Most Recommended Roofing Products.” As the top Women’s Choice honor awarded to roofing products, the designation is based on an unaided survey where American women select brands they highly recommend. 

Recognizing the decision-making role that women play when selecting products for their home’s exterior, OC said Burkett pioneered efforts to engage women’s feedback and respond with roofing products that blend performance with style. Her efforts have been transformative in delivering shingles that leverage the power of color to harmonize a home’s exterior.

“All of us at Owens Corning are grateful for the feedback and insights that women share with us as we develop roofing products that fuse functionality with performance,” Burkett said, remarking on receiving the content marketing award. 

In October, OC named “Williamsburg Gray” as its 2024 “Shingle Color of the Year.”
