Parkland Corporation released the news that Jim Pantelidis, the company’s Chair of the Board, has announced his retirement from the Board effective July 28 but will temporarily remain as an advisor to the board, with the honorary title of "Chairman Emeritus."

The company said Pantelidis’ honorarium will extend until the next annual general meeting of shareholders “…in recognition of his significant contributions to the company.” Pantelidis guided the company through its evolution from a small regional player to an international organization operating in 25 countries.

"We wish him well in retirement and look forward to his support as an advisor to the company."

The company’s board appointed Steven Richardson as Chair. Richardson joined the board in 2017 and currently serves on the Human Resources and Compensation Committee and is the chair of the Audit Committee.

Richardson has more than 30 years of experience in the financial and retail sectors. From 2003-2009, he held senior financial positions at Hudson's Bay Company, including CFO, from 2006-2009. Previously, Richardson held senior executive positions with financial services companies, including CFO of Wells Fargo Financial Canada, executive vice president and CFO of Associates Financial Services of Canada, and CFO of Beneficial Canada.

The new chairman also serves on the Board of Directors of SupremeX Inc., where he chairs the Audit Committee. He previously served on the Board of Directors for RONA Inc. and easyhome Ltd. [currently goeasy Ltd.], where he served on both Audit Committees.

The company said Pantelidis' retirement and Richardson's appointment as Chair forms part of Parkland's ongoing “board refreshment” process.
